FREE LIVE WORKSHOP | FRIDAY 11 SEPTEMBER 2026 | REPLAY INCLUDED
THE SCHOOL EMAILS ABOUT CAMP. YOU PAY IT. AGAIN.
One Childhood
Football, band, the orthodontist. Somehow every cost lands in your account, and the conversation about how those costs should be shared keeps getting put off.
On Friday 11 September at 12:30m AEST, we'll spend an hour working on preparing for that conversation. It's free, live on Zoom, and completely private.
Your child gets one childhood. The camp happens this year. So does the basketball, the braces, the music lessons, and all the ordinary expenses that come with raising a child. You don't need to agree about everything to start thinking about how those costs are going to be shared.
SAVE MY SEAT →Perhaps the other parent thinks child support takes care of these costs, while you're looking at the specialist appointment, the tutoring, the ballet your child loves and wondering how that's supposed to work.
Perhaps you've raised it before. It became an argument, nothing changed, and eventually paying the invoice yourself seemed easier than having the conversation again.
Or perhaps you've been trying to work out what's actually fair before you say anything, and the whole thing has slid to the bottom of the list.
This is where I would start. First, get the whole picture in front of you. Then work out what you're actually asking for. Then plan how you want to open the conversation.
We'll work through one conversation together:
- We'll get clear on the actual costs. Not just the obvious ones. The things that appear once or twice a year tend to disappear until the invoice arrives. And what's coming next.
- We'll look at what you're actually asking for. What's a reasonable starting point? What would you be comfortable proposing? Where might there be more than one way to share the costs?
- And we'll think about the conversation itself. What do you want the other parent to understand? How would you like to begin? What might help the conversation stay constructive?
- You'll do this for your own situation, with my guidance.
ONE CHILDHOOD
Give me one hour and we'll get it out of your head and onto the page. You'll leave knowing what you want to talk about, why you're asking for it, and how you want to begin.
When
Friday 11 September 2026 at 12:30pm AEST. We'll spend about an hour working through the preparation, with time for questions.
Live on Zoom and private
I've designed this to protect your privacy. Your camera will be off and your name won't be visible to other attendees.
Can't make it live?
Register anyway. I'll email you the Prep Sheet and then the replay so you can work through it as soon as you have the space.
FOR YOU
The One Childhood Prep Sheet
I'll send you a simple working sheet with your joining instructions. You'll use it during the workshop so by the end of the hour, you'll have something specific to work from.
Negotiation is a strategy you can learn
Hi, I’m Marnie Cooper
I'm an Accredited Mediator and Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner. I help separated parents have the conversations they need to have about parenting, property and the money in between.
The quality of the conversation is often determined before the conversation starts.
When people have had time to understand what is important to them, get the information they need, consider their options and think about how they're going to approach the other person, they tend to behave differently in the room. They have firm footings. They listen to collect information. They can make decisions. And the whole family feels the difference.
One Childhood is a small, practical version of this process. Bring a conversation you've been putting off and we'll work through it together.
You don't need to think of yourself as good at negotiation. You just need to be willing to prepare.

FRIDAY 11 SEPTEMBER 12:30 PM AEST
Join me for an hour and we'll work through the conversation you've been putting off.
Some conversations become easier once you've had the chance to think them through properly. That's what we'll do here. You bring your situation, I'll bring the structure, and we'll work through the first steps together.
